Structural Stiffness is a video performance that investigates the body in relation to the invisible pressures of social and economic structures. Through a repetitive action of stepping up and down onto a brick, the body alternates between tension and apparent release, revealing a continuous cycle of effort, weight, and exhaustion.
The work articulates questions around time, inequality, and artistic production, confronting the idea that all bodies begin from the same conditions. Between physical gesture and fragmented language, doubts emerge around faith, permanence, and belonging, pushing the limits between body and matter.
Performed in Santa Luzia, Minas Gerais, in the favela where I grew up.
